This project focuses on ways to support the development of numeracy and literacy skills in young children (up to 8 years of age). This involves the design, process and use of digital technologies to create engaging and interactive learning experiences in numeracy and/or literacy. The project has three broad areas of focus:
1. Effective digital media design
This aspect of the study focuses on context analysis for effective digital media design. Considerations include the content, presentation, and delivery of information, as well as the age and developmental level of children who will be using digital technologies and other contextual factors.
2. Utilizing digital media
This area of study can involve using specific software or apps that are specifically designed for teaching early years numeracy and/or literacy skills.
3. Educator knowledge
Research in this area focuses on how digital media is used in early years educational settings and teachers’ professional knowledge about the use of digital media for developing young children’s numeracy/literacy
